If you aren't seeing recent changes to your website, or if a page looks "broken," your browser is likely holding onto old files. Clearing your cache forces the browser to download the latest version of the site.

The Short Version (Keyboard Shortcut)

For Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, you can skip the menus and open the clear cache window instantly by pressing:

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + Delete

  • Mac: Cmd + Shift + Delete

The Manual Method

If you prefer to navigate through the menus, here is how to do it in the most popular browsers:

Google Chrome

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  2. Click Privacy and security on the left sidebar.

  3. Select Delete browsing data.

  4. Select Cached images and files.

  5. Click Delete data.

Firefox

  1. Click the three lines (menu) in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  2. Click Privacy & Security on the left sidebar.

  3. Scroll down to the Cookies and Site Data section and click Clear Data.

  4. Uncheck "Cookies" but make sure Cached Web Content is checked.

  5. Click Clear.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  2. Click Privacy, search, and services on the left sidebar.

  3. Scroll to Clear browsing data and click the Choose what to clear button.

  4. Check Cached images and files.

  5. Click Clear now.

Safari (Mac)

  1. Click Safari in the top menu bar and select Settings (or Preferences on older versions).

  2. Go to the Privacy tab.

  3. Click Manage Website Data.

  4. Click Remove All to clear the cache.
